Hiker (57) with dog trampled by cows

The series of cow attacks in Tyrol continues unabated: a 57-year-old hiker, who was out with his dog, was literally trampled and injured by a herd in Hochfilzen in the district of Kitzbühel on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred late on Saturday morning. The 57-year-old local man was walking with his dog towards a "fenced-in cow pasture in the area of the Schüttachalm" at around 11 am.

And then it happened: "The herd of cows in the pasture ran towards the dog owner, causing him to fall and injure the man lying on the ground with his hooves," according to the investigators.

The cows were chased away by people nearby.

To hospital by emergency helicopter
The cows were eventually chased away by witnesses to the incident. The hiker suffered serious injuries. After first aid by the emergency doctor on site, he was flown by helicopter to the district hospital in St. Johann.

In the past few weeks alone, there have been several incidents between cows and hikers in Tyrol. Some of the people were seriously injured.
