Shots fired from a moving car: manhunt in Tyrol

Wild scenes unfolded in the Tyrolean Oberland on Saturday night. An initially unknown "pistolero" fired shots from a moving car. The police then launched a manhunt. The car with two occupants (aged 19 and 20) was eventually stopped.

The police received an emergency call at around 1.15 am. It was reported that shots had been fired from a moving car in Imst. A manhunt was immediately launched with several patrols.

The suspicious vehicle was finally stopped in Wenns in Pitztal, around ten kilometers away. The occupants: two locals aged 19 and 20.

A blank-firing pistol and a gas pistol were found in the car and seized.

Passenger suspected of being a "pistolero"
"A blank-firing pistol and a gas pistol were found and seized in the car," said the investigators. The 20-year-old passenger admitted to firing from the car.

Charges and provisional weapons ban
Both the driver and the suspected "pistolero" have been charged. Both men have also been provisionally banned from using weapons.
