Man shot during robbery – eight years in prison

A man from Salzburg who has been convicted ten times in court was sentenced to eight years' unconditional imprisonment on Friday, not legally binding. According to the indictment, he robbed a woman in her apartment in Salzburg while wearing a mask. When a guest who was present recognized him, the perpetrator fired.

Dangerous scenes took place in Salzburg-Maxglan on February 19 of this year. According to the indictment, a 35-year-old man from Salzburg kicked in the door of a woman's (34) apartment. She was sitting with an acquaintance (49). The perpetrator pointed a signal pistol at the two and demanded money.

Despite wearing a mask, the 49-year-old recognized the perpetrator and called out his name. Then the man, who had already been convicted ten times in court, fired. The bullet smashed through a window. The two robbery victims were unharmed. The perpetrator managed to escape, but was caught and arrested shortly afterwards. Investigators had tracked him down slightly drunk in a pub.

At the jury trial on Friday, the man from Salzburg claimed not to remember anything, to have been in a drunken stupor and denied the crime. DNA and footprint traces, however, proved him guilty. He was sentenced to eight years unconditional imprisonment, not legally binding. The sentence range was one to 20 years due to his previous offenses. The man from Salzburg is in custody.
