One-year-old boy scalded with hot water

Serious household accident in Gleisdorf: A one-year-old boy had to be flown to the children's hospital in Graz with severe scalds after an accident with a kettle.

The accident happened on Thursday evening at around 6.30 p.m.: A 34-year-old Styrian woman was in the kitchen with her one-and-a-half-year-old son and had put the kettle on. When the doorbell rang, she put the boy in a playpen and went to the door. As she quickly went to the bathroom, she suddenly heard her older son screaming loudly. 

The one-and-a-half-year-old must have somehow got out of the playpen and knocked over the kettle - he was scalded. The mother immediately alerted the emergency services. The rescue helicopter flew the boy and his mother to the children's hospital in Graz.
