Caught in baler: Tractor driver killed

Tragic work accident in the Murtal: On Tuesday afternoon, a 32-year-old man became trapped in a baler on a field next to the S 36 near Knittelfeld. Although the emergency services were quickly on the scene, all help came too late for the man. He succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.

On Tuesday, a 32-year-old man was baling straw bales in a field right next to the Murtal expressway near Knittelfeld. For unknown reasons, he was caught in the rear part of the baler attached to the tractor and became trapped. 

A worker who was mowing the lawn nearby became suspicious because the tractor had not moved for some time and went to check. He found the trapped tractor driver. 

Although a large contingent of emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident after just a few minutes and were able to free the trapped driver, all help came too late for the man - he died at the scene of the accident.

There was another dog in the cab of the tractor, which was looked after by the fire department until it was handed over. 

Further details of how the tragic accident occurred are not yet known. The police are investigating.
