Kalle Rovanperä wins in Latvia ahead of Ogier

Two-time Finnish world champion Kalle Rovanperä has won the eighth round of the World Rally Championship in Latvia. It was the third win of the season for the Toyota driver. 

Rovanperä, who was already racing in Latvia at the age of twelve, led from the start and dominated on the fast gravel roads in the Baltic States. Eight-time French world champion Sébastien Ogier (+39.2 seconds) and Ott Tänak from Estonia took the other podium places.

World championship leader Thierry Neuville was unable to finish higher than eighth. However, the Belgian retained his lead in the overall standings and is still eight points ahead of Tänak.
