Salzburg’s dress rehearsal a success in front of empty stands

Red Bull Salzburg celebrated a 4:0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday in the last test match of the preparation. The game, which was played in front of empty stands in the Bullen-Arena, served as a dress rehearsal for next week's competitive match in Dornbirn. 

Bullen coach Lijnders fielded his regular starting eleven against the English second division side. And they took command right from the start. Kjaergaard struck the bar early on (8'), shortly afterwards captain Dedic made it 1:0 with a well-placed shot (11'). In the 34th minute, Kjaergaard made it 2:0 with a rebound and that was the score at the break.

It was a similar picture after the break. Austria's runners-up had the game under control and repeatedly created chances, while England were only able to make occasional pinpricks.

And so it came as it had to: Konate scored with a shot into the near corner to make it 3:0 (58'). And youngster Daghim was also allowed to celebrate, scoring the 4:0 (69') after preparatory work. In the end, the score remained the same.
