Bastian Schweinsteiger as team manager? During the European Championship final on Sunday, the former DFB player did not rule out a future role as national team coach.

When asked about the fact that he himself never became European champion, Schweinsteiger, who was on site as an ARD expert in the run-up to the match, replied: "Not as a player anymore, that's right."

His colleagues were already pricking up their ears and asking what he was trying to say. "Life is long," was the 2014 world champion's answer, although the position does not necessarily have to be that of German national team coach. "I also speak English.
