Speeding through a 50 km/h zone at 116 km/h

66 km/h too fast is a huge overrun! The speed was measured in Klagenfurt.

The supposed safety on a road, an inner feeling for speeding, wandering thoughts that don't take in the speed limit sign, the conscious will to accelerate: There are many reasons why drivers speed. But 66 km/h too fast is an enormous excess.

On Friday evening at 8.39 pm, the police used a laser to measure the speed on Feldkirchner Straße in Klagenfurt. A 32-year-old driver from the district probably regrets his speed: he was driving at 116 km/h in the 50 km/h zone, which is outside the city limits!

His driver's license was temporarily confiscated. A report will follow.

Exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h outside the local area can be punished with a fine of 300 to 5000 euros. The driver's license is taken away for four weeks. Within the local area, exceeding the speed limit by 40 km/h "suffices" for these penalties.
