Woman rescued after 36 hours in the sea off Japan

A woman was swept out to sea by the current on a beach in Japan and was only rescued after 36 hours 80 kilometers from the coast near Japan's Boso Peninsula. 

Two coastguard crew members, who had been alerted by radio, spotted the Chinese woman in the water and rescued her, who was floating in the sea in a rubber buoyancy aid.

Dehydrated but otherwise well
The woman, in her twenties, told rescuers that she had been swept away by the water while swimming at the beach and was unable to return to the beach.

The coastguard had launched a rescue operation on Monday evening after the woman was reported missing. She was finally rescued on Wednesday morning. She was dehydrated but did not need to be hospitalized.
