Boeing aircraft loses a wheel after take-off

Another breakdown on a Boeing aircraft: shortly after take-off in Los Angeles, a 757-200 aircraft lost a wheel. Despite this incident, the aircraft landed safely in Denver. "The wheel was recovered in Los Angeles and we are investigating the cause of the incident," explained United Airlines.

There were no injuries among the 174 passengers and seven crew members, the airline announced on Monday (local time).

It was the second time in just a few months that a wheel had fallen off a United Airlines Boeing. In March, a 777 aircraft lost its wheel shortly after take-off in San Francisco and the pilot decided to make an emergency landing.

Numerous safety deficiencies found
Boeing has been under heavy pressure for some time due to allegations of safety defects on its aircraft. An incident in January, in which a cabin door cover fell off a 737 MAX 9 operated by Alaska Airlines during flight and the aircraft had to make an emergency landing, caused a particularly big stir.

On Monday, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also ordered inspections of more than 2,600 Boeing 737 aircraft due to possible problems with the oxygen supply in the event of an emergency.
