Downhiller seriously injured in a fall in Tyrol

A fatal recreational accident on Friday in East Tyrol: a 44-year-old downhiller lost control during a jump and crashed. The local suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The serious accident happened in Lienz. The 44-year-old local was skiing downhill on the so-called "Flow Family Trail" for the second time. After the previous rides had always gone smoothly and accident-free, a fall occurred around midday.

Lost balance on a jump
"During a jump, the man lost his balance through his own fault. He became overbalanced and was thrown over the handlebars and ultimately hit the ground," said the police.

Broken arm and bruises
The 44-year-old suffered a broken forearm and several bruises all over his body. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, he was taken to the district hospital in Lienz by ambulance.
