After alcohol accident: stepfather snitches to the police

Someone must have been drinking too much: A driver lost control of his car on Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Oberland, whereupon it crashed into a concrete block. The man and his wife suffered minor injuries, but both drove home. The crash was only reported later - by the driver's stepson.

The accident happened at around 8.30 pm in the Imst area. The local driver wanted to turn off the B171 Tiroler Straße into a local road in his car. "The car skidded on the wet road when turning and crashed into a concrete block", reported the police.

The driver and passenger drove home
The impact caused the concrete block to be pushed a meter into the adjacent meadow. The driver and his wife, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered minor injuries. "They went home on their own."

Wife's son informed the police
The accident only became known at around 10.10 p.m. "when the passenger's son called the police", the investigators continued. The suspected driver was subsequently found to be heavily intoxicated. Charges will be filed once the investigation has been completed. The vehicle involved in the accident sustained serious material damage.
