Man cuts his upper arm with a chainsaw

A terrible accident at work in the Außerfern region of Tyrol: a 44-year-old man cut his upper arm with a chainsaw while carrying out woodwork. His companion immediately raised the alarm. After first aid, the injured man was flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.

The fatal accident had already occurred on Monday afternoon in Lermoos. Together with a 62-year-old local, the 44-year-old German, who lives in the district of Reutte, was working on wood at the Tuftlalm parking lot on the Fernpassstraße, reported the police.

"Chainsaw snapped back"
While cutting a tree trunk to length, it happened - the chainsaw jammed. "And when the man released the saw from the trunk and pressed the throttle, the chainsaw sped back and the running chain caught the worker's upper arm," the investigators continued.

To hospital by emergency helicopter
The 44-year-old suffered a cut. The accident victim's companion immediately provided first aid and made an emergency call. After receiving initial emergency medical treatment at the scene of the accident, the injured man was flown to hospital in Reutte by emergency helicopter.
