OpenAI rival Anthropic presents new AI model

In the race for AI software, the company Anthropic has released a new version of its ChatGPT competitor Claude that is twice as fast after just three months. The Claude 3.5 Sonnet model is particularly good at writing software code and formulating texts, according to the company.

Anthropic is primarily aimed at use in companies and wants to gain a foothold in the legal and financial sectors, among others. Among its customers is pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, which uses Claude for drug research.

Along with the new model, Anthropic is introducing a function called Artifacts, which allows AI-generated content to be shared and further processed with other employees.

"Our most intelligent model to date"
Anthropic offers three versions of Claude: Haiku is optimized for speed, Opus for intelligence, Sonnet is in the middle on these parameters. According to the company, the new version 3.5 of Sonnet is faster and more powerful than the top model Claude 3 Opus, which was only launched in March.

Anthropic is convinced that it is at the forefront of the industry, said Product Manager Michael Gerstenhaber at the launch on Thursday.
