Altach have snapped up Rapid’s Oliver Strunz

The striker joins SCR Altach on a one-year loan. Oliver Strunz had been the focus of the Rheindörfler for some time, but a broken ankle prevented the transfer in the winter.

SCR Altach have signed another striker in Oliver Strunz. The 24-year-old, who is classified as a talented attacker, is set to gain match practice at Rheindorf. Together with the other attackers Fridrikas, Santos, Bahloul, Diawara, Lincoln and Nuhiu, he should put an end to the goal drought that has lasted for years.

Altach sporting director Roland Kirchler is not ruling out the possibility of loaning out one or two strikers: "We're in a good position now, but we don't want to have a collection of strikers in the stands every game." Diawara is currently out of action with a shoulder injury and will be delayed in his preparations.

Already in demand in winter
There were already negotiations with Strunz in the winter, but a broken ankle put paid to that plan. "Oliver is now fit again and is undoubtedly a boost for us," says Kirchler.

The left-footer played 44 Bundesliga matches for Rapid, scoring six goals. "I'm looking forward to the new challenge in Altach. The club made a lot of effort for me and gave me a good feeling. The transfer offers me the opportunity to develop further," says Strunz.

Sports medicine tests are on the agenda for Altach's players today.
