Trade union considers filing charges due to flight weather shutdown

The weather forecasters are soon to be withdrawn from Salzburg Airport. The trade union is not prepared to accept this.

Austro Control, which is responsible for aviation weather, plans to relocate the aviation weather center from Salzburg Airport as early as the beginning of July. The detailed weather report will then be compiled from Vienna with the help of new measuring instruments. Salzburg politicians and the trade union argue that knowledge of the local Salzburg weather conditions is necessary for smooth operations.

The transport union Vida is threatening to file a complaint with the public prosecutor's office if Austro Control actually implements the plan. "There is no legal basis for this step," says trade unionist Friedrich Schinagl.
