Nature in Leipzig and the region
In addition to the architecture and green parks, waterways characterize the cityscape. Over 300 kilometers of waterways and almost 450 bridges crisscross the "Little Venice", and more than 20 lakes attract visitors to the surrounding area. In Plagwitz in particular, many people enjoy the beautiful backdrop of the Karl Heine Canal in a canoe or motorboat.

In the area surrounding Leipzig, you can explore imposing castles, magnificent palaces and idyllic lake landscapes. Whether on foot or by bike - the region offers numerous cycle paths with varying degrees of difficulty for sports enthusiasts, families and weekend cyclists. A highlight for families is Leipzig Zoo, where you can discover exotic animal and plant species in six adventure worlds.
