Drunk driver caused flying “concrete bullets”

Dangerous scenes unfolded in the Tyrolean lowlands on Sunday evening: a Spanish driver crashed into a concrete crash barrier in Kirchbichl in the district of Kufstein, causing splintered parts to be hurled at another vehicle. The man suspected of causing the accident was taken to hospital - a breathalyzer test was positive.

The accident happened shortly after 6 pm. According to the police, the 39-year-old Spaniard was driving his car on the Loferer Bundesstraße in Kirchbichl in the direction of Söll when he veered too far to the right at the start of a bridge.

"The car then crashed into the concrete crash barrier there. Parts that had splintered off the concrete crash barrier damaged an oncoming car," reported the police.

The man's driver's license was confiscated on the spot.

Spaniard taken to hospital by ambulance
The two occupants of this vehicle were uninjured. "The 39-year-old was taken to Kufstein Hospital by ambulance for examination," the investigators continued.
