2.44 per mille! Driver crashed into a stationary car

There was a crash with an injury in the Waldviertel: a 37-year-old man had to stop his car at a junction due to traffic. Behind him was a heavily intoxicated 32-year-old man driving his partner's car. There was a crash - but the drunk driver no longer has to surrender his driver's license.

There was a rear-end collision in the Zwettl district at around 4.50 p.m. on Tuesday. A 37-year-old man from the district was driving on the Bundesstraße 36 in the Großweißenbach area and had to stop due to traffic. A 32-year-old man - also from the Zwettl district - was also driving in the same direction in his partner's car.

Drunk driver taken to hospital
The drunk 32-year-old - it later transpired in hospital that he had 2.44 per mille alcohol in his blood - noticed the car in front of him too late and crashed into the 37-year-old's car. The drunk driver was taken by ambulance to Zwettl Regional Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity. The driver of the stopped vehicle was uninjured in the traffic accident. 

In addition to the impending heavy fines for the drink-driving accident and the girlfriend's broken car, the 32-year-old also faces further charges: Driving without a license. This is because the driver's license had already been revoked by the authorities.
