Elon Musk drops lawsuit against OpenAI

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has dropped the lawsuit against the ChatGPT developer OpenAI, which he co-founded. This was revealed in a statement published by the court on Tuesday. No reasons were given.

Musk had accused OpenAI and its boss Sam Altman of disregarding the original purpose of the company. It was to develop artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of humanity and not for profit. OpenAI has denied the accusations.

OpenAI was founded in 2015 as a non-profit research and development organization. To attract external investors, it founded a for-profit subsidiary in 2019. By this time, Musk had already parted ways with OpenAI in a dispute.
