Lightning strikes AUA plane on approach to Klagenfurt

Shocking experience Monday for numerous flight passengers: on the way from Vienna to Klagenfurt, lightning struck an AUA plane.

According to Austrian Airlines, however, this happens much more often than one would think and, above all, realize, as the airline officially tries to put the incident into perspective. Nevertheless, the passengers of the Embraer E195 on their way from Vienna-Schwechat to Klagenfurt certainly had a more than uncomfortable feeling.

In fact, the aircraft had not suffered any obvious damage from the impact and was able to land in Klagenfurt without any problems. Nevertheless, the plane was put through its paces on the ground - which is why the connecting flights from Klagenfurt to Vienna and from Vienna to Berlin were canceled. The aircraft was back in service on Tuesday.
