Ex-manager: “Kroos and Bayern didn’t fit”

Ex-Bayern manager Michael Reschke has provided some insights into the transfer of Toni Kroos to Madrid. According to the 66-year-old, the combination of Bayern and Kroos simply wouldn't have worked. The transfer was therefore not a mistake, even though the anger of many Bayern fans continues to this day. 

"Such developments just happen in professional soccer. Somehow, the Kroos-Bayern combination was no longer a harmonious fit at the time," Reschke told the newspaper "tz". He himself had come to Munich as technical director in the same year and was involved in the talks with the international.

Handling the transfer was even one of his first official acts at the time. "Of course I regretted it very much from a sporting point of view, but there were reasons on both sides to part ways," the 66-year-old is still certain that there was no alternative at the time.

The Kroos transfer was therefore not a mistake on the part of the record champions. Although the anger and frustration of many Bayern fans is certainly understandable. "It was certainly a golden decision for Toni. And from Bayern's point of view, it just didn't fit at the time. Period," was the dry conclusion of the former manager.
