Speeding driver (17): driving license confiscated, car impounded

Late on Sunday evening, a new driver's license holder in the Tyrolean lowlands was in a particular hurry: the 17-year-old local was speeding at almost 200 km/h on the Inntal freeway. The young speedster has already had to surrender his driver's license. But he won't need it without his car - because it was confiscated!

The 17-year-old probationary driver's license holder from the district of Kitzbühel was driving on the A12 Inntal freeway shortly before 11 p.m. when he came into the sights of a police patrol near Wiesing.

Almost 200 km/h in a 100 km/h zone
The young speeding driver had really stepped on the gas pedal and was measured at 195 km/h in the 100 km/h zone there (Austrian Air Pollution Control Act, IG-L; note).

The 17-year-old's driver's license was confiscated on the spot. The vehicle he was driving was also provisionally confiscated.

Pulled out of traffic at the parking lot
The officers immediately took up the pursuit and pulled the speeding driver out of traffic at the Münster parking lot. "The 17-year-old's driver's license was confiscated on the spot. The vehicle he was driving was also provisionally confiscated," said the investigators.

The young man must now expect a hefty fine. Corresponding reports have been made to the relevant authorities.
