Father rescues son

A serious forestry accident occurred on Saturday morning in Bichlbach in the Tyrolean Außerfern. A 40-year-old wanted to clear storm damage together with his father. However, the working day ended in Innsbruck hospital. 

The two men were busy clearing windthrow. The 40-year-old was using a chainsaw to clear fallen trees. In the process, a trunk under tension shot up and the man was trapped between it and a standing tree.

The father used a chainsaw to free his seriously injured son. After first aid, the 40-year-old was rescued by the mountain rescue team and flown to the hospital in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter.
