Poisoning alarm for six workers in a garage

Suspected carbon monoxide poisoning! This was the first report for the emergency services in the Tyrolean Ötztal shortly before midday on Wednesday. Six workers from a cleaning company were affected. The incident happened in an underground garage in Sölden. 

What had happened? The six men had been working in a parking garage to clean the underground car park. They were using a special high-pressure cleaner. "However, this could only be powered by a car that was stationary," explained the police. The running engine was the workers' undoing. 

Company owner alerted the emergency services
After a short time, two of the men (32 and 40 years old) complained of severe nausea. They were taken outside, but the symptoms persisted. The company owner was informed - he alerted the emergency services.

The two workers had to be flown to Zams Hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Their four colleagues also had to see a doctor, but probably got off lightly. 

In addition to the emergency helicopter, the Sölden fire department, a Red Cross team and the police were also deployed. The investigation is ongoing.
