Fixed! Ex-Leverkusen keeper joins Altach

What the "Krone" already hinted at on Monday is now fixed: Following the departure of Sebastian Brandner, ex-Leverkusen and ex-ÖFB team goalkeeper Ramazan "Rambo" Özcan will be the new goalkeeping coach of the Rheindörfler. 

"We are delighted to have Ramazan Özcan as our goalkeeping coach," says Altach's sporting director Roland Kirchler. "Rambo is one hundred percent fired up for this task. He's the perfect fit for us, both as a type and with his wealth of experience, and we're sure that he will develop our goalkeepers further."

The 39-year-old Özcan had worked as a goalkeeping coach for three years until April 2023 at reigning German champions Bayer Leverkusen after ending his active career with the "Werkself" in the summer of 2020.

Ten times in the ÖFB goal
As an active player, "Rambo" played 175 competitive matches in the 1st and 2nd German Bundesliga and was in goal for the ÖFB team ten times. He stood between the posts for SC Austria Lustenau, FC Red Bull Salzburg, TSG Hoffenheim, FC Ingolstadt, Besiktas Istanbul and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, among others.

"I'm really looking forward to the new challenge here in Altach. As a boy from the Ländle, I've always followed the club from afar. I'm excited about the whole club and the fans", Özcan is quoted as saying in a club statement.
