Police station cleaned: Shoplifter busted

A criminal case in Krems was solved in an extremely curious way. The perpetrator came to the police station himself - as part of a cleaning team booked by the police.

The perpetrators took goods out of their packaging, pocketed them and left an electronics store without paying. This shoplifting incident in Krems took place almost four months ago. Despite intensive investigations and usable footage from the surveillance camera, the thieving couple could not be traced for the time being.

But the case has now been solved. One of the wanted thieves came to the police station himself. Not to confess his crime, however, but to clean the station thoroughly. He was a member of a cleaning team that had been commissioned by the police to do the cleaning. As it happened, the 34-year-old Kremser walked past the very officer who had been working on the case. And the police officer recognized his face immediately.

It was an outstanding job to remember the face after four months.

After a short investigation, the accomplice was also identified. She is the wife (33) of the accused. Despite overwhelming evidence, the two vehemently deny that they stole the products in mid-January.
