Gang of thieves busted: manhunt for third perpetrator

In the period from April 20, 2023 to February 23, 2024, a group of offenders committed numerous thefts from unlocked cars (also in Styria). After two Romanian nationals had already been traced at the end of February, a further accomplice has now been identified.

Between April 20, 2023 and February 23, 2024, several burglaries took place in Styria, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Salzburg. A group of criminals stole cash, personal belongings, wallets, driving licenses and ATM cards from unlocked cars in front of residential buildings. The total loss amounts to several tens of thousands of euros.

Two Romanian nationals were already arrested on February 23, 2024 and confessed. Following further investigations by the Niklasdorf branch of the Provincial Criminal Police Office and the Trofaiach police station in cooperation with the relevant departments, a further accomplice has now been identified. The 39-year-old Romanian citizen is still being sought.
