Minibus plunged from ferry into the Nile: ten dead

At least ten people died in a ferry accident in Egypt on Tuesday. According to the Ministry of Health, a minibus fell off a ferry into the Nile north of the Egyptian capital Cairo.

"The number of victims is ten and could rise," said ministry spokesman Hossam Abdelghaffar. According to the AFP news agency, the accident happened near the village of Abu Ghaleb in the province of al-Jiza (Giza) .

The "Al-Ahram" newspaper first reported on the accident. According to the report, the bus driver on the ferry had released the handbrake of the minibus (pictured above). According to the newspaper, he tried to flee but was caught.
