Biker (63) seriously injured during overtaking maneuver

A motorcyclist from Lower Austria overtook several cars on the Triebener Straße on Monday and crashed into an oncoming car. The 63-year-old was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

The beautiful weather on Whit Monday attracted numerous motorcyclists to the Styrian roads. This also resulted in a number of accidents. For example, a 63-year-old from St. Pölten (Lower Austria) was seriously injured. 

The biker was on the Triebener Straße coming from St. Johann am Tauern in the direction of Hohentauern when, according to the police, he overtook several vehicles on a slight right-hand bend. In doing so, he moved further and further to the left into the oncoming lane. 

An oncoming 66-year-old German made an emergency stop and was already driving partly in the ditch. Nevertheless, the biker collided with the car. After first aid, the seriously injured motorcyclist was flown by rescue helicopter to Kalwang University Hospital. The driver of the car remained uninjured.
