The tears were already flowing before kick-off. Christian Streich, former coach of SC Freiburg from Sunday, could barely contain his emotions on Saturday.

In itself, it was an obligatory match preview interview on Sky - as Streich has done hundreds of times. But everything was different on Saturday. Freiburg's away game at Union Berlin was his last as head coach. He had started off in an almost composed manner. It was not a day like any other so far, said Streich, whose voice faltered more and more as the answer grew longer. And tears finally welled up in his eyes.

"The people"
The Sky presenter asked him what he would miss most from tomorrow. "The people," Streich stammered, his voice choking with tears.
