Salzburg faces the next weekend of traffic jams

Salzburg drivers are facing the next weekend of traffic jams! Traffic experts are expecting the next wave of travelers heading south at Whitsun. This could lead to hours of delays at the tunnel construction site on the Tauernautobahn, but also at the construction site on the A1 near Thalgau.

The traffic experts from ÖAMTC and ARBÖ expect the biggest wave of travel from north to south from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon. The Whitsun vacation starts for 4.4 million German schoolchildren. The mobility clubs are expecting hours of delays, especially at the roadworks from Golling to Werfen.

On the Tauernautobahn, the exit barriers are already active. However, traffic jams may also occur on the alternative routes due to the Salzburg alternative traffic. There may also be traffic jams between Mondsee and Thalgau on the Westautobahn. In Pinzgau, the total closure of the Schmitt Tunnel around Zell am See on the B311 can lead to delays.

ÖBB is also preparing for the travel weekend and is offering 9000 additional seats. There will be extra trains on Friday and Saturday between Vienna and Salzburg, on Friday also between Salzburg and Villach, and on Monday on both routes.
