Boy (2) fatally run over by grandpa (66) with farm tractor

A horrific accident tragedy took place on a farm in Kirchberg ob der Donau (Upper Austria) on Saturday afternoon. A small child was run over and killed by a tractor driven by his own grandfather. Doctors who were called could no longer help the two-year-old boy. The horror is great.

The 66-year-old grandfather had been working with a wheel loader in the barn of his farm in Kirchberg ob der Donau that afternoon. It is not yet clear exactly how the terrible accident happened.

Two-year-old Roland must have been running behind the tractor at around 4 pm. The grandfather had apparently not noticed and overlooked his grandson as he was reversing his Hoftrac. The little boy was unable to get out of the way and was crushed by the vehicle.

Emergency doctor was powerless
The shocked old farmer immediately raised the alarm. An emergency doctor brought in by the Christophorus 10 rescue helicopter was unfortunately only able to determine that the two-year-old had died.

A crisis intervention team had to take care of the relatives. The police are now also investigating on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
