Police catch burglar and his loot
A 35-year-old man was observed breaking into a family home in Villach by a neighbor on Friday. After a short pursuit, the thief was caught by the police.
Shortly before 10 a.m., the attentive woman from Villach observed the 35-year-old as he was entering a detached house. The woman immediately alerted the police, who responded to the house with a large contingent.
When the thief noticed the officers, he fled with the loot. "Two police officers then pursued the perpetrator on foot and fired a signal shot to alert the other officers to the fugitive's position," said the police.
During his escape, the burglar lost a rucksack containing the previously stolen jewelry. And after a short chase with the police officers, the handcuffs finally clicked for the 35-year-old.
The stolen loot was returned to the 62-year-old owner. The man from Villach now faces a hefty charge from the public prosecutor's office.
