Great interest in jobs
Almost 1300 applicants for 880 teaching positions in Tyrol
A total of 880 teaching positions were recently advertised in Tyrol for the coming school year. "There is a great deal of interest in the jobs", as the education directorate and school councillor Cornelia Hagele have now announced.
Accordingly, 1299 men and women have applied to the Tyrolean Education Directorate, 279 more than when the vacancies were advertised for the current school year. However, it is not yet clear whether all vacancies can be filled.
Distribution across subjects, school types and regions
The Directorate of Education must first clarify how the applications are distributed across the various subjects, school types and regions. By the end of May, however, it should be clear how many positions can actually be filled.
A further advertisement is then planned in order to close any gaps, it was said.
Teachers wanted for STEM subjects
Most teachers are needed in compulsory schools. There are just under 500, 269 of which are in secondary schools alone. According to the Directorate of Education, it is mainly the STEM subjects of mathematics, computer science and technical subjects that are in demand. Many new German and English teachers are also needed.
