End of career? Thiem comments on his future
After reports made the rounds on Tuesday that Dominic Thiem would end his tennis career at the Erste Bank Open in October, the Lower Austrian now wants to comment on the rumor himself.
"We will comment on this at the end of the week and make a clear statement so that there is no confusion," explained Moritz Thiem, the 30-year-old's brother and manager.
According to a report in the "Salzburger Nachrichten" (Wednesday edition), Thiem is said to have already announced to partners and sponsors that he will hang up his tennis racket in the fall.
Signs point to the end of his career
The goal of a significant improvement in the ranking towards the top 50, which was set at the end of January, currently seems a long way off. The Lichtenwörth native had already said at the time that he would have to think about whether it was still worth continuing. All signs are therefore not so surprisingly pointing to the end of his career.
