22-year-old injured in a fire in a machine shop
On Monday evening, a 22-year-old from Engelhartszell was carrying out welding work on his car in a hall in Brunnenthal (Schärding) in Upper Austria when the car suddenly started to burn. The fire quickly spread to the entire building, the 22-year-old was injured in the fire and was taken to hospital.
During welding, the interior of the car caught fire in the trunk area. Shortly afterwards, the entire vehicle was on fire and the flames even spread to the machine hall, which was fully engulfed in flames a short time later.
Three fire departments in action
60 firefighters from three fire departments, including six breathing apparatus units, fought the fire from the ground and the turntable ladder. Despite this, three more cars were engulfed by the flames and the hall was also badly affected.
Young man injured
The 22-year-old man from Engelhartszell was injured in the fire to an indeterminate degree and was taken to hospital in Schärding by ambulance.
