Six dead in Ukrainian attack in border region
According to the authorities, six people have been killed by drones in the Russian border region of Belgorod. The Ukrainian military fired on three vehicles, including two buses carrying workers, the governor of the region announced on Monday.
The attack also injured 35 people, including two children. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov published a photo showing a badly damaged bus. Russian border regions are repeatedly under attack, but attacks with several fatalities are rare. Most deaths and injuries are recorded in Ukraine itself.
9000 children evacuated
More than a month ago, the governor of Belgorod published pictures showing the evacuation of 1200 children from the region (see video above). A total of 9000 were to be taken eastwards. At the time, 16 people were killed in attacks. Experts suspected that Russian saboteurs could have been behind the attack.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Monday that two more towns in the east had been captured. Since the capture of the small town of Avdiivka, which had been fought over for months, Russian troops have repeatedly conquered areas in the region and pushed back Ukrainian soldiers.
The war opponent reported a Russian airstrike on a region in the north on Monday. According to the military administration, the supply of electricity was temporarily interrupted. Ukrainian air defenses shot down twelve of 13 attack drones on Monday night. There was initially no information on the drone that was not shot down.
