Cyclist and motorcyclist collided head-on

Head-on crash on the Glockner High Alpine Road: A racing cyclist and a motorcyclist collided on Sunday.

The Swiss racing cyclist was riding downhill towards Heiligenblut and avoided a wet section of road by riding into a parking lot bulge on the left-hand side of the road. As he drove out of the parking lot indentation, he overlooked the oncoming motorcyclist coming from Heiligenblut.

The road cyclist's view was restricted by a wall of snow about two meters high, which led to a head-on collision between the two cyclists. 

The Swiss rider was seriously injured and flown by emergency helicopter to Schwarzach Hospital, while the Austrian motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to the Tauern Hospital in Zell am See.
