Teenagers find explosive grenade on cycle path

Police presence in Klagenfurt: young people found a war relic near a cycle path on Saturday evening. The area was completely closed off. The emergency services are waiting for the demining service. 

The young people reacted correctly on Saturday (around 4 p.m.) after the dangerous find, did not touch anything, but alerted the police immediately. They immediately cordoned off the area in the Klagenfurt district of St. Peter near the Glan cycle path. "There were two explosive grenades from the Second World War," police spokeswoman Kristina Kapellari announced on Saturday evening. 

"The grenades were not in the water. If they had been, they would have had to be put back there immediately - because that can be dangerous", Kapellari continued.

Demining service on site
The demining service from Graz arrived at around 8.30 p.m. and took the two two-centimeter explosive grenades with them. It is not yet known whether the weapons were duds or live. Experts will clarify this.
