Scarred by storms
Fire departments prepare for the next storm
The firefighters are preparing diligently to be prepared for emergencies and to be able to intervene quickly. And citizens are also asked to help.
There have also been storms in the region around Radenthein in recent years. Mudslides, flash floods and storms have caused damage.
In order to be prepared for emergencies in the future, the members focus on further training and ongoing exercises. "Our statistics show that severe weather incidents are increasing from year to year. That's why we have to be consistently prepared," says commander Hannes Daborer.
Measures have also been taken by the municipality, flood protection facilities and river barriers have been built and a disaster protection warehouse has been set up in the municipality so that sufficient equipment and materials are available in the event of an emergency. A mobile 80 kV power generator has also been purchased in the meantime.
Citizens are asked to help
Daborer: "In addition, the deployment zones in the municipal area have been revised, deployment plans drawn up - and regular inspections are carried out. We have to stay on the ball here so that we can react quickly in the event of a disaster." The fire department is also asking residents for their help. "If you notice any blockages, please lend a hand yourself. That would be a great support for us!"
