Hearing list for rector election surprises

Nine candidates are on the hearing list for the rector election at the University of Salzburg. Interim Rector Martin Weichbold and Viola Heutger, former head of the University of Aruba, are not on the list. 

A total of 20 people applied for the head of the University of Salzburg. The selection committee has now decided on nine candidates. They will be invited to a public university hearing on May 21 and 22.

These are the nine candidates:

   6. Professor Jochen Sautermeister, University of Bonn
   7. Professor Veronika Somoza, Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich
   8. Professor Hans-Peter Steinrück, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
   9. Professor Markus Walzl, University of Innsbruck
