Current figures show the high level of care required: 13,200 children, women and men are cared for in Upper Austria in the area of people with disabilities (work and living), with almost 8,500 employees available for this purpose. Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (ÖVP), the state councillor for social affairs, is now campaigning for more staff with cash prizes and a campaign.

Provincial Councillor for Social Affairs Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (ÖVP) and the representative body for social enterprises in the psychosocial and disability sector in Upper Austria are now launching an information campaign to draw attention to this important work and recruit more staff. Specifically, the Department of Social Affairs is waiving the tuition fees for training to become a specialist social care worker.

Currently 350 people are benefiting from this measure, saving 1200 euros a year. There is also a campaign in both traditional and social media entitled "#BerufmitEcht". The aim is to use various channels to show the diversity of a job in the disability sector and motivate people to opt for the relevant training.

"A crisis-proof job"
Provincial Councillor Hattmannsdorfer says: "We want people with disabilities in Upper Austria to have the best guidance and support." There are currently over 800 people in training. According to the state, earnings after this training amount to around 3,400 euros gross per month (full-time employment) including bonuses. "And it's crisis-proof," adds the State Councillor for Social Affairs.
