Escape after knife attack in Vienna subway station

On Sunday evening there was a dangerous knife attack in the Vienna U3 subway. Several passers-by were injured in the incident after the victim (22) tried to flee from the attacker. Among the injured was a one-and-a-half-month-old girl. The suspect has been on the run ever since.

At around 8 p.m., the 22-year-old wanted to stop the stranger from hitting a woman (63). According to the police, the stranger then attacked the 22-year-old with the Stanley knife, injuring him on the hand. When the 22-year-old tried to flee from the attacker at Stephansplatz station, he unfortunately collided with a Viennese man (35) with a baby carriage. 

The baby carriage was also knocked over. The father (35) and baby were slightly injured.

Unknown person still on the run
Both men fell. The baby carriage containing the one-and-a-half-month-old baby was also knocked over. Shortly afterwards, the suspect also fled. The father and the baby were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The girl is suspected of having suffered a traumatic brain injury. The 63-year-old woman was also taken to hospital.

Motive still unclear
Despite an intensive search, the emergency services have not yet been able to arrest the unknown man. It is also still unclear why the suspect attacked the woman in the middle of the subway. The investigation is still in full swing.
