Innsbruck election
This time, VP congratulated the election winner immediately
After Johannes Anzengruber's election victory as mayor of Innsbruck, the ÖVP was quick to congratulate him this time: "I am firmly convinced that we will work well together and tackle the challenges together," said Governor Anton Mattle.
The Tyrolean People's Party reacted more quickly on Sunday than last time. The congratulations on making it into the run-off election two weeks ago only came a day later - and half-heartedly at that!
The voters in Innsbruck have given Johannes Anzengruber the confidence he needs to play a leading role in shaping the city of Innsbruck. I therefore wish him all the best in his new role.

"Many things done right"
"I would like to congratulate Johannes Anzengruber on his impressive election as the new mayor of the provincial capital of Innsbruck. There are many challenges and opportunities ahead for the city and province in the coming years. I am firmly convinced that we will be able to master and exploit these together in good cooperation. I look forward to new momentum in the provincial capital," congratulated VP Chairman LH Anton Mattle a few minutes after the result was announced yesterday.
Florian Tursky also offered his congratulations: "This lays the foundation for a new beginning in Innsbruck." Tursky emphasized that new cooperation in Innsbruck's municipal council is now important. "'The new Innsbruck' will follow this path of constructive cooperation and we look forward to a good working relationship over the next six years."
The congratulations were echoed by Barbara Thaler, Chairwoman of the Wirtschaftsbund and Member of the European Parliament: "Anyone who prevails against an incumbent mayor has done a lot of things right. Not only in the election campaign, but even before that in the political work for Innsbruck."
Election party in the Treibhaus, Hörl invited to the Gauder Fest
After the election results were announced, Johannes Anzengruber made his way to the Treibhaus in Innsbruck, where the election party was taking place. There he met, among others, Tyrol's former WK President Christoph Walser and ÖVP veteran Franz Hörl. The latter promptly invited the newly elected mayor to the Gauder Fest in the Zillertal.
Deputy Governor Georg Dornauer (SPÖ) and his partner Alessia Ambrosi were also seen at the election party.
"We're celebrating today," the newly elected head of the city proclaimed at the election headquarters. Nonetheless, things are set to get underway on Monday morning: The exploratory talks are on the agenda.
