Piece of rock suddenly comes loose while climbing
Helicopter operation in Bad Eisenkappel. A climbing trip ended in hospital for a 39-year-old man.
Three Slovenians had imagined this trip differently. A 37-year-old woman and two men (39 and 45) took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and went climbing in Bad Eisenkappel.
The accident suddenly happened in the last third of the Koschlak via ferrata. According to the police, the 39-year-old fell due to a piece of rock breaking off and injured his left shoulder. "The man was unable to walk to the end of the via ferrata or turn back due to his shoulder pain," said the police, describing the incident.
The Christophorus 11 rescue helicopter was alerted. The Slovenian was flown to the UKH Klagenfurt by means of a dew rescue. In addition to the police patrol, two members of the Völkermarkt Alpine Rescue Team and four members of the Eisenkappel Mountain Rescue Team were deployed.
