European Rowing Championships in Szeged
Gold for Hultsch/Ruttmann, ÖRV eight in 5th place
Austria's eight took fifth place at the European Rowing Championships in Szeged on Saturday. Konrad Hultsch and Paul Ruttmann won the title in the non-Olympic lightweight coxless double sculls out of three starters.
ÖRV national coach Robert Sens praised this "very nice success", but was unhappy with the performance of the eight.
"With the gap to the reference boats, we have to react," said Sens. Lorenz Lindorfer, Jakob Stadler, Michal Karlovsky, Bruno Bachmair, Xaver Haider, Thomas Lehner, Jörg Auerbach and Gabriel Stekl were 15 seconds short of a medal.
