Amadeus Award: trophies go to the Salzkammergut

The music scene rejoiced at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards on Friday evening. Stars and newcomers scored big, and Upper Austria was also a major player: Hubert von Goisern was honored, the band Bipolar Feminin from Ebensee and My Ugly Clementine also picked up prizes.

The Amadeus Award show on Friday evening in Vienna's Volkstheater was full of suspense, as - unlike in the past - no stage winners were announced in advance. There were 49 different artists and bands on the shortlist.

Newcomers and "repeat offenders"
Bibiza, the frontrunner among the nominees, was honored for the first time - with two awards. The same was achieved by their established colleagues Wanda. Also among the winners was Melissa Naschenweng, who won the "Schlager/Folksmusik" category for the fifth time.

Trophies for the Salzkammergut
Strong signals came from the Salzkammergut: the band Bipolar Feminin from Ebensee found out a few weeks ago that they had won the FM4 Award for the first time and have now officially accepted the prize.

Federal President first well-wisher
One of the highlights of the show was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Hubert von Goisern. Accompanied by standing ovations, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen presented him with the golden trophy.

The trio My Ugly Clementine, led by Sophie Lindinger from Eferding, won the Amadeus for the third time in the "Alternative" category.
