Kornelli wins Olympic place in Formula Kite class
Austria's sailors have secured quota places in six out of ten boat classes for the Olympic Games in Paris! Alina Kornelli also made her mark in the Formula Kite class on Thursday off Hyeres.
A second place in her semi-final was enough for the 23-year-old to fulfill her dream. On the previous day, Lorena Abicht had struck in the iQFoil class. Quota places in the 470, 49er, Nacra 17 and men's Formula Kite had previously been fixed.
"Nothing is stopping me now!"
"The whole week was extremely difficult for me. I was afraid of making mistakes, so I couldn't push myself fully," said Kornelli. "That's why the relief is all the greater. I've achieved my goal. Nothing is holding me back now - I can just go for it and give it my all."
The Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) will decide on the final nomination of the athletes.
